What is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing practice with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Energy is in everything and everywhere and flows through all living things.

Reiki is a gentle and compassionate healing energy that is delivered through the hands of the attuned practitioner. Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy within themselves and to help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing. When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance. Reiki works to increase and free the unbalanced energy flow in the body.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and can help you to restore balance within.

What does a Reiki session feel like?

Each person’s experience with Reiki is unique. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. Some drift off to sleep as tension is released from their body.  Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace and well-being.

How should I prepare for my Reiki session?

In a typical session you will lie on a Reiki table fully clothed. All you need to do is close your eyes and relax as soothing music is played while the practitioner uses a non-invasive gentle touch or hovers their hands above your body. Feeling relaxed and comfortable in your environment is very important. Come experience a restorative energy healing session and enjoy its positive benefits.
